Bimini to West Palm Beach

Image
Our marina in Bimini was in a beautiful resort, and the weather was ideal for the entire three days. Our "obligation" to come here every year to renew the paperwork for Empty Nest does not seem like such a chore at the moment, notwithstanding the rough trip Thursday. (How is notwithstanding even a word?!?) The rooftop pool at our marina resort Empty Nest as seen from the rooftop pool As I mentioned last time, our starboard side generator was not working, and with my mechanic on the phone, we determined that it was a bad impeller. I pulled out the old impeller which was completely destroyed. I also opened up the heat exchanger and cleaned out the rubber pieces and removed the water hoses on both sides of the pumps to makes sure water could flow. I used our wet vac to pump water through them, and pushed air into the sea water side to make sure there was no blockage on the through hull. Whether I would be able to put things back together again was an open question. But the bigge

After our departure from Rodriguez Key, we ran into unexpected boat issues that ended up sidelining us for a few weeks. Empty Nest went into the shop in Ft. Lauderdale at Bradford Marine. We visited our good friends Matt & Kim in Orlando and stayed in their guest house and had a blast. Here were are with Matt. This picture ended up in their club newsletter after we attended their party. Ann and I also went to Animal Kingdom, and played pickleball every day. From Orlando, we flew home to Annapolis for a little over a week and caught up on lots of stuff in our normal lives, visit with family, celebrated Elana's 25th birthday, and of course played pickleball every day. We returned to the boat two days ago, and yesterday, we sailed from Ft. Lauderdale to Bimini, Bahamas! We have to go outside the US every year to get paperwork because our boat is registered in Jamaica, and this is a requirement to get a new cruising permit. So, this is our second annual trip on Empty Nest to Bimini
